1). Excessive tire wear is caused by failing to rotate tires on a regular basis. Tire life can be extended by 25% by annual rotations.
2). Misalignment, out of balance, over and under-inflation will also dramatically reduce tread life.
3). Timing chains can fail after 75,000 miles and ruin pistons and valves.
4). Letting your gas tank go below 1/4 tank can reduce cooling and burn out the electric fuel pump which is usually within the gas tank.
5). Front end vibration at 55 mph is most likely just a tire out of balance or a broken belt, not an indication of front end misalignment.
6). Softness or bulges in hoses under the hood are an indication that the hose will fail very soon.
7). Cracks in the belts under the hood are a sign that there will soon be a belt failure.
8). Any unusual vibration or noise may be an indication of a component failure occurring soon.
9). All wheel drive vehicles should have all tires exactly the same size and by the same manufacturer in order to avoid damage to the drive train. Tires should have approximately the same amount of wear to ensure the same circumference of each wheel.
